This is a join project of two schools:
Russian (Yaroslavl) school #76 and American (New-York) Grace Church School.
My name is Natalie , and I have the American penfriend - Jeannie .
Along this project I learn the following information.
New-York City is one of the biggest cites in the USA.
The city is made up of five burrows: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx,
Staten Island and Queens. Students of Grace Church School live in Manhattan.
There are some great landmarks: the Statue of Liberty, the empire state
building, the Twin Towers, and Central park.
Now I'll tell a little bit about the government in America. Due to Jeannie I have learnt that the National Government in divided up into three different branches: The Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial. The House of Representatives is based on state population. The Senate has one representative per state, with no Consideration to the state's population. The Legislative branch has many rights, among which are the rights to declare war, impeach the president veto with a two-thirds vote. The Executive branch is the President. He or she (although they have not yet had a female president in US) has the right to veto laws made by the Congress, pass laws, appoint Supreme lourt judges and declare war. The last branch of American government, the Judicial Branchlor the Supreme Courtl, has the right to declare any acts made by the Congress or by the President un - constitutional and to interpret laws made by the Congress.
The people who govern the separate states are called Mayors, and they are elected by the people of the state.
Then I would like to tell about one of the American upper school. It's Grace Church School. School is five days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Students have school nine months every year and get a three month summer vacation. Also they have a two weeks spring vacation in which students go to another country or stay in New-York and hung out with friends. Grace Church School has grades from Junior Kinder garden to Eight gable. There is a lower school and upper school begins at fifth. After eighth grade students have to look for a different school, high school.
I made this project with one of the students of Grace Church School - Jeannie. I thank her for it!!!
